A Walk Through Time and Culture - Museums of Seattle: Part 1

Burke Museum of Natural History & Culture

Embrace your inner scientist or explorer with three floors of discovery waiting for you at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture. You can explore fossil records as a paleontologist, tap into archeology, learn about biology and evolution, or discover contemporary art from Native Americans and more. As a Smithsonian Affiliate, you’re sure to enjoy top-quality insights and exhibits that will leave you looking forward to your next visit.

Each visit for adults will cost you $22 per person, or you can sign up for a yearly membership starting at just $60 - it pays for itself in three visits! A membership for two adults is only $100, perfect for you and a roommate to take advantage of.

National Nordic Museum

The National Nordic Museum seeks to share Nordic values and perspectives that serve as guiding principles for the core exhibition experience, tracing Nordic themes of connection to nature, sustainability, social justice, and innovation from the earliest anthropological records through contemporary Nordic society. 

While tickets are normally $20 for adults, they have a program called First Free Thursday. On the first Thursday of each month, admission to the Museum is free. Reserve your tickets in advance online and make sure to stop at the Admissions Desk to check in to take advantage of this great opportunity.

If you prefer to stay home, they also host various virtual events from art projects to crafts and cocktails to lectures to learn more about Nordic culture and different elements of the current exhibitions.

Cascadia Art Museum

Cascadia Art Museum is an educational, nonprofit organization that celebrates the rich tradition of the visual arts and design in the Northwest by providing enriching experiences for the community and visitors alike through original exhibitions, public programs, publications and educational outreach. Though their focus may be regional, their vision is universal.  They are dedicated to preserving the legacy of our historic regional art to inspire future generations to study and enjoy.

Visit the museum Thursday-Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm for just $10 as an adult, $7 as a senior, and for free as a youth (ages 0-18).
